He's the pin that holds 'Project Runway' together.

To employ catchphrases from two Teutonic giants -- Heidi Klum and Arnold Schwarzenegger -- Lifetime TV's "Project Runway," which wraps up its season this coming week, has bid auf Wiederauf Wiedersehen to Los Angeles for now. But it'll be back.

So too will the man whose own catchphrase, "Make it work," gets shouted at him from admiring strangers in taxicabs. I cannot sew on a button properly, but I wouldn't miss "Project Runway," in large measure because of the urbane and droll Tim Gunn. If there's a Tim Gunn character, I might even play the forthcoming "Project Runway" video game.

"Project Runway" fans may think of him as a fashion god, but Gunn regards himself as an educator, counselor to the designer/contestants toiling among the toiles. He strolls from dressmaker's dummy to dressmaker's dummy, either worried or pleased, as the garment under construction deserves.

Gunn spent a quarter of a century as a teacher and administrator at Parsons the New School for Design in New York. Now he's the creative director and "brand ambassador" for the Liz Claiborne company.

Even if you only see "Project Runway" as you channel-surf on your way to PBS, you have to admit he's an especially able wordsmith. Who else can so credibly toss out words such as "diaphanous" on television, or speak comfortably about "the semiotics of clothes"? He crafts and stitches his phrases as meticulously as the couturier Balenciaga composed his dresses.

So I'll tweak Shakespeare to say this about Gunn: His "glass of fashion" is always full.

Betrayed by my own brain. ;_; I did the Dr. Horrible one already!

Considering I was thinking at work how my brain really seems to be split. By the part I control and the part it controls on it's own. And how it will do as it very well sees fit. Usually it tends to win. Although I seemed to be getting some control back - at least with those nightmares I had about a month back where I finally took control back.

But no. A bit ago it wanted to remind me how it rules. So I've started my next video and it's to Breaking Benjamin's Give me a Sign. And I'm a total failure at naming my AMVs ([info]whiteadelphi named the last one XD) and the working title for this video is called Project 2. (XD Snippit to come later!) Joking with WA I said: at least I didn't call it Give Cloud a Sign.

And then my brain grabbed that and went running. Before I blinked this was going through my stupid little crack head:

Cloud saw the sign!
And it opened up his eyes!

And because in the video I'm working on now (a serious video) and if you take it literally with the lyrics and title it's basically Zack showing giving Cloud the sign. Soooooooo of course now Zack is the SIGN OF ALL!

Cloud saw the Zack
And it opened up his eyes! He saw the Zack.

-_-;; I hate the part of my brain that says I could totally make this work. Because I'm more believing my rational side that says I'd WAY overwork this and make it suck. SO SHUT UP CRACK!BRAIN TRY AGAIN!

In a shocking display of poor diplomacy, Egypt’s chief Egyptologist Zahi Hawass allegedly called American pop-star Beyonce a “stupid person” during her brief tour of the Giza pyramids earlier this week. Writing in al-Shorouk newspaper, Summer al-Gamal said that Hawass became fed up with the pop star’s attitude after she did not show the interest Hawass felt was deserved of the pyramids.

According to Gamal, during Hawass’ self-guided tour, he said “I showed her the Sphinx and I gave her a book on King Tutankhamen,” but then his anger and frustration made its way to the forefront.

“Then he stopped being diplomatic and said in anger, ’she’s a stupid person and she doesn’t understand a thing and she doesn’t want to understand’,”
wrote Gamal.

Rosie O'Donnell may have said last month that she was done commenting on breakup rumors dogging her relationship with her partner of five years, Kelli Carpenter, but that changed Friday.

On her Sirius Satellite radio show, O'Donnell suddenly admitted Carpenter had moved out of their home two years ago. The reason for the big reveal? A pressing psychic and a long-haired chihuahua.

"Where did you get her from Rosie? Because she says she came from somewhere. And she said she’s happier with you," pet psychic Sonya Fitzpatrick said of O'Donnell's dog Misty. "She's so spoiled and she loves to burrow."

O'Donnell confirmed: "She does! She burrows in the bed right next to me."

And, when asked who "sometimes looks after her," O'Donnell explained her four children all fight over caring for the pup, which she got three days after Carpenter left. "What happened [was] when Kelli moved out two years ago, I got the dog. Because I wanted another child or something to love. And I got the dog."

On Oct. 20, O'Donnell told USA Today, "We're a family, we remain a family ... Kelli and I love each other very much, and we are working on our issues. Those are the only words I am ever going to say. Ever. And that is something that has been agreed upon by all parties."

WE know, courtesy of Us Weekly, that Kristen Stewart spreads butter on her blueberry bagels. People magazine just chronicled her alleged romance with her “Twilight” co-star, Robert Pattinson, in an entire issue devoted to the movie franchise. And everyone from “Access Hollywood” to The New Zealand Herald has chewed over her supposedly “moody,” “mopey,” “melancholy” demeanor. What hardly anyone outside Hollywood knows — or at least recognizes amid the tabloid frenzy, hyperventilating fans and cheesiness of the “Twilight” movies — is perhaps the most interesting thing about her: At 19 Ms. Stewart is considered one of the most promising actresses of her generation, with Oscar winners like Sean Penn and Jodie Foster lining up to offer praise.

“I do wish that people would focus more on the work, and I can’t say that I don’t take it personally,” said Ms. Stewart, who reprises her role as Bella Swan, an ordinary high school girl who falls in love with a sensitive vampire, in the forthcoming film “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” “But I understand it because what you do as an actor is so tied up in who you are as a person,” she continued with a deep sigh. “What really kills me — it really rips me up — is when people think I’m abrasive, inconsiderate or ungrateful because I don’t go outside in a bikini and wave to the paparazzi. Come on!”

Life as a teen idol has never been easy. But navigating the obsessive attention of young fans amid today’s media landscape — all Twitter, all YouTube, all TMZ, all the time — can be particularly harrowing. And Ms. Stewart in some ways has it even harder. Because of the grip the “Twilight” franchise has on young girls — the first movie raked in $384 million at the global box office and the books, by Stephenie Meyer, have sold over 70 million copies — she is not just an actress playing a popular role. Instead “Twi-hards” have come to project their version of romantic love on her; Ms. Stewart’s shyness and hints of awkwardness make her accessible to fans in a way Megan Fox is not.

Carla Gugino has played a wide range of women in her career, but never a porn star. Now, thanks to her longtime boyfriend, filmmaker Sebastian Gutierrez (Snakes on A Plane, Gothika), she gets her chance in the dramedy Women in Trouble.

Gugino doesn't get any sex scenes, but she does appear in lingerie, as do most of the other actresses. Carla tells why the female cast members were ready to strip down to the bare essentials.

Elijah Woods takes a Romantic break

Now here is a smiling face we don’t get to see very much of!!

A very busy Elijah Woods enjoyed a coffee break with co-star Jeremy Strong in Long Island yesterday. The quirky star of such films as Everything is Illuminated and The Lord of the Rings trilogy is currently starring alongside Anna Paquin and Katie Holmes in the romantic/comedy The Romantics.

The Galt Niederhoffer film follows eight close friends reunite for the wedding of two of their friends. Problems arise because the bride (Anna Paquin) and the maid of honor (Katie Holmes) have had a long rivalry over the groom (Josh Duhamel).

Also starring are Malin Ackerman and Adam Brody.

Since it's Leonard Nimoy Day in Boston...

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 4:46 PM

If Leonard Nimoy’s acting work had been limited to that deliriously crazy music video for “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins,” he’d probably still be celebrated by a lot of us. Alas, in a career that spans seven decades, Nimoy has achieved a status far beyond accidental cult-kitsch pop-stardom, even if he did direct Three Men and a Baby. Playing the half-human/half-Vulcan Spock in the original Star Trek (and in J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek reboot last summer), he used an iconic mix of logical stoicism and quiet, pained loneliness to bring to vivid life the struggle of a character grappling with his identity and his destiny. He was also in two of the best Simpsons episodes ever. I talked with the Boston-born Nimoy about Star Trek, ghosts, and Barack Obama when he called from Los Angeles last week.

Do you meet a lot of Three Men and a Baby fans?

Once in a while. The strange thing about Three Men and a Baby was that the question was always, “What’s the story about the ghost in the movie?” [I.e., what looks like a window reflection of the Ted Danson cardboard-cutout standee.] People want to know what that’s about. There was a lady who said her son died in that room — which was very good for box office but was a total accident and had nothing to do with any ghost.

New Sugababes Lineup Sparks Riot

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 10:20 PM
Around 60 people, including four who needed hospital treatment, have been hurt in a crowd surge at Birmingham's Christmas lights switch-on.

More than 20,000 people turned out for the event at Millennium Point which had been due to feature pop acts including JLS and the Sugababes.

Or was the riot caused by people who didn't want to buy all four special edition JLS albums? )

So...they're blaming JLS' fans, or something? Glad I didn't go to this now...I hope everyone's alright =/

Friday Sequel News

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With an unofficial release date of August 13, 2010, a sequel to Platinum Dunes' remake of Friday the 13th is currently awaiting a firm greenlight. That isn't exactly new news as producer Brad Fuller has publically said as much in the wake of the film's modestly successful release, but rumors about the fate of Jason Voorhees in the horror sequel – as well as potential directors – are beginning to circulate.
